- An excellent introduction with bioclimatic data, distributions, etc., with a review of the more prominent plants systematically arranged and well illustrated;

- The main vegetation types and important component species;

- The major ecosystems and their preservation, and

- Economic plants in food, forestry, medicine and horticulture.

The work is very well-illustrated in colour.]

[This work is the edited results of a collaborative EU programme, ‘Floristic Biodiversity of N Morocco’, project CI1* - CT92 – 0105 between The Institut Agronomique et Vétérinaire Hassan II, Rabat, The University of Reading, The University of Sevilla and the Institut Botànic de Barcelona, 1993—1996. It involved over 100 collaborators (authors, plant collectors, technical support, etc.) throughout Europe. The area covered is principally that N of the Rabat – Oujda road, plus the Tazzeka National Park. Distributions are represented by the occurrence in 20 floristic regions.
